Future Continuous Tense has two interchangeable forms. To use its easier form you have to learn only the conjugation of the verb
być (to be) in the Future Tense. To use its harder form you have to learn additionally the conjugation of verbs in
Past Tense .
In Future Tense Continuous you can use only imperfective verbs.
The verb być (to be)
The verb być works as an auxiliary verb in Future Tense Continuous. It is the only verb which, apart from the Present Tense conjugation forms, also has Future Tense conjugation forms:
You have to learn the above Future Tense conjugation of the verb być to create sentences in Future Tense Continuous.
Verbs conjugation
To transform any verb into Future Tense Continuous form you have to use one of these two methods:
- to be future conjugation form + infinitive verb form
- to be future conjugation form + third-person Past Tense verb form
Easier method: to be + infinitive verb form
If you are not familiar with
Past Tense conjugation , you can use this easier method to create Future Tense Continuous sentences. Instead of using the third-person Past Tense form of the verb, you can substitute it with the infinitive form of the verb. Using this construction of Future Tense is somewhat colloquial, but people tend to use it very often. The table below shows the conjugation for the verb
robićusing this method.
Example
As I said, this method is very easy. All you have to learn is the Future Tense conjugation of the verb być and the infinitive form of the verb. Keep in mind that in Future Continuous Tense you can only use imperfective verbs!
Harder method: to be + third-person Past Tense verb form
This method is harder because you have to know
the conjugation of verbs in the Past Tense . Future Continuous Tense uses only the third-person verb forms from Past Tense. In the third- person Past Tense each verb has 5 different forms. These forms depend on the number and gender of the subject. For example, the verb
robić (to do) has the following third-person forms in Past Tense:
robił,
robiła,
robiło,
robili and
robiły.
Let's see how to use these Past Tense forms in Future Continuous Tense. The table below shows all the Future Continuous Tense forms of the verb robić. They are combinations of the Future Tense forms of the verb być and the third-person Past Tense conjugation forms of the verbrobić:
Example
As you can see, all the five Past Tense forms have been used in Future Continuous Tense. The first three forms are for the singular subject. The last two forms are for the plural subject. The form also depends on the gender of the subject, as shown in the table above.
