Genitive Case (Dopełniacz) - Masculine Singular Nouns

Masculine singular nouns in the Genitive Case take the following endings:
Endings-u-a
Some nouns may have irregularities in their stem when adding an ending.
Orthography rule

The -u ending usage

Use the -u ending for inanimate nouns, although there are many exceptions that use the -a ending.

The -a ending usage

Use the -a ending for animate nouns. Many inanimate objects also take this ending.
Exceptions
There are animate nouns that take the -u ending.
