Future Tense Continuous is very simple in Polish language. If you use its simpler form, then the only thing you have to learn is the conjugation of the verb “to be” in Future Tense.

When you want to create a sentence in Future Tense Continuous, you can use only imperfective verbs. These are the same verbs, which you use in Present Tense.

The verb “to be – być”

The verb to be works as auxiliary verb in Future Tense Continuous. It is the only verb, which apart from the Present Tense conjugation forms, also has the Future Tense conjugation forms:

być  – to be: Present Tense conjugation

Subject (singular) Polish English Subject (plural) Polish English
I jestem  I am We jesteśmy  We are
You jesteś  You are You jesteście  You are
He / She / It jest  He/She/It is They   They are

być  – to be: Future Tense conjugation

Subject (singular) Polish English Subject (plural) Polish English
I będę  I’ll be We będziemy  We’ll be

You have to learn the above conjugation of the verb to be to create sentences in Future Tense Continuous.

Verb conjugation

To transform any verb to Future Tense Continuous form, you have two options:

  1. “to be” future conjugation form 0 third person Past Tense form
  2. “to be” future conjugation form 0 infinitive form

The first option is more difficult, because you have to already know the conjugation of verbs in Past Tense (to be exact: the conjugation of verbs in the third person Past Tense). Each verb has 5 different forms in the third person Past Tense. The form depends on the number and gender of the subject. Below you can see all the future forms for the verb robić  – to do. They are conbination of Future Tense forms of the verb to be and third person Past Tense conjugation forms of the verb to do:

Singular Plural
Polish (Past Tense 3rd p.) English Polish (Past Tense 3rd p.) English
będę robił   (masculine) I’ll be doing będziemy robili   (masculine) We’ll be doing
będę robiła   (feminine) będziemy robiły   (non-masculine)
będziesz robił   (masculine) You’ll be doing będziecie robili   (masculine) You’ll be doing
będziesz robiła   (feminine) będziecie robiły   (feminine)
będzie robił   (masculine) He’ll be doing będą robili   (masculine) They’ll be doing
będzie robiła   (feminine) She’ll be doing będą robiły   (non-masculine)
będzie robiło   (neuter) It’ll be doing

As you can see, we have 5 different forms of the verb to do: robił  , robiła  , robiło  , robili  , robiły  . The first three forms are for singular subject. The last two forms are for plural subject. The form also depends on the gender of the subject, as shown in the table above. All these forms are the forms from Past Tense.

If you don’t know the Paste Tense conjugation forms, you can use second, easier method to create Future Tense Continuous in Polish Language. Instead of using the third-person Past Tense form of the verb, you can simply substitute if with the infinitive form of the noun. Using this construction of Future Tense is a bit more colloquial, but people tend to use it very often. Below you can see the conjugation for the same verb robić, using the second method:

Subject (singular) Polish English Subject (plural) Polish English
I będę robić  I’ll be doing We będziemy robić  We’ll be doing
You będziesz robić  You’ll be doing You będziecie robić  You’ll be doing
He / She / It będzie robić  He/She/It will be doing They będą robić  They’ll be doing

As I said, this method is very easy. All you have to learn in the Future Tense conjugation of the verb to be and the infinitive form of the verb. Keep in mind, that in Future Tense Continuous you can only use imperfective verbs!
